TWO NIGHTS / THREE DAYS per person ₹10,000 / 142 USD
ĀYURVEDIC TREATMENTS INCLUDE:
- Consultation with Āyurvedic speciality doctor and/or psychologist.
- Two sessions of Abhyangam अभ्यङ्गं (whole body oil massage) – 48 minutes (oil only) and/or oil with herbal *bolus, either Elakizhi (medicated leaf bag massage – as seen above) or Podikizhi (herbal powder bag massage) and Svedana स्वेदना (steaming and fomentation) – 30 minutes. Abhyangam is done with two massage therapists and penetrates deeply down to the seven dhātus or elements of the body, releasing toxins at deep tissue level. Kizhi (*massage using herbs tied in a linen cloth called bolus).
- Any one session of simple Basti as follows:
Jānu Basti जानु बस्ति (knee treatment – good for arthritis) – 48 minutes
Kaṭī Basti कटी बस्ति (back oil treatment) – 48 minutes
Grīvā Basti ग्रीवा बस्ति (neck oil treatment) – 48 minutes
Śiro Basti शिरो बस्ति (head oil treatment) – 48 minutes
- Any one Laghudhāra लघुधार therapy: Laghu (light) and dhāra (stream). Examples of these treatments are Śirodhāra शिरोधार (third eye oil treatment) – 48 minutes (if you have never had one, it is a must-have experience). Takradhāra तक्रधार (buttermilk pouring treatment similar to Śirodhāra) – 48 minutes. Svarasadhāra स्वरसधार (herbal pouring treatment similar to Śirodhāra – 48 minutes). Additional dhāra treatments are Sarvāṇga सर्वाङ्ग Kaṣāyadhāra कषायधार (whole body treatment with medicated decoctions) and Tailadhāra तैलधार (whole body treatment with medicated oils).

THREE NIGHTS / FOUR DAYS per person ₹12,000 / 170 USD all treatments as above with, in addition, one extra beauty therapy and one extra treatment as, for example, Netratarpanam नेत्रतर्पणं (eye rejuvenation treatment) – 48 minutes.
Many treatments are available for you both to learn to give and to receive according to your diagnosis by your speciality doctor. During this netratarpanam, black gram paste is moulded around the eyes to form a barrier for warm ghee to be poured into the hollows around the eyes. This organic therapy alleviates stressed eyes, prevents eye diseases, and strengthens the millions of nerve fibers in the retina.
The treatments have mysterious benefits based on the esoteric understanding of the whole self. Examples are Śirodhāra शिरोधार and Udvartanam उद्वर्तनं.
Śirodhāra शिरोधार: Śiro (head) and dhāra (stream). Śirodhāra refers to the continuous pouring of warm medicated oil over the third eye or ājñā आज्ञा chakra चक्र. The warm oil produces magnetic waves that convert into electrical waves. These waves send impulses to the cerebral cortex and hypothalamus, giving a calming effect to the hypothalamus, secreting neurotransmitters and secreting agents as serotonin (the happy chemical) that controls and regulates the pineal gland, which produces melatonin (the hormonal regulator of the wake-sleep cycle).
Basically, Śirodhāra cools the third eye chakra that is central to all brain function and governs the entire endrocrine gland system. It regulates one’s mood and induces happy feelings and relaxation, thereby reducing tension and lowering blood pressure.
Udvartanam उद्वर्तनं is a type of therapeutic massage using powder instead of oil. It is characterised by upward direction of the massage strokes (pratigati प्रतिगति). The herbs used in the powder, as rose, neem and sandalwood create a glowing skin and others, as triphala त्रिफल, are good for weight loss. The upward strokes follow the lymphatic system, which moves from the extremities to the heart where it drains. All the major vayus or “winds” are located on the lymphatic system and these are stimulated during Udvartana. The nāḍis often flow towards concentration points of the vayus, lymph and nerve plexuses, so Udvartana helps activate the nāḍis flowing from the extremities to the chakras.
